Manchester United suffered their joint-worst Premier League defeat on Sunday as they were overpowered 6-1 by Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Prior to kick-off that the club has lined up medicals for Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani on Sunday evening but any pre-match optimism was soon quelled as United surrendered an early lead to trail 2-1 in the seventh minute.

Anthony Martial was sent off in the 29th minute after an off-the-ball incident involving Erik Lamela, which saw the Spurs player drop to the deck despite having instigated the altercation himself.

United capitulated following the Frenchman’s dismissal, conceding twice more before the break and twice after it.

United have two weeks to stew over the loss, with an international break coming up. International transfer deadline day is tomorrow and it remains to be seen whether the Reds will look to add to the additions of Telles and Cavani.

Manchester United were humiliated 6-1 by Tottenham in their joint-worst Premier League defeat and Jose Mourinho had alerted them to their weaknesses before and after they sacked him.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer declared “The worst day I’ve had as Manchester United manager.”

But Mourinho, the Spurs Manager reacted “Manchester United do not lose 6-1 everyday.”
