Akwa Ibom Girl Wins UNICEF Award

An Akwa Ibom girl has emerged the overall winner of International Model United Nations Conference sponsored by the United Nations Children and Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

Of the 2,000 participants from all over the world, Anita Godwin Michael from Ikot Akpa Isiak in Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State floored them at the finals held in a virtual meeting between May 22 and 23, 2021.

In a position paper entitled Serving the children: Putting an End to Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancy submitted online, Anita who represented the Sultanate of Oman as a delegate sent the best.

Anita, a student of Sociology and Anthropology in the University of Uyo, was excited in that she could lend voice to one of the global issues.

Speaking with Straightnews reporter in Uyo, the young Akwa Ibom girl said she dedicated the award to her lovely parents, Evangelist Godwin Michael and mother, Blessing because they encourage me in whatever endeavour I want to partake and finally I dedicate it to God Almighty.
