The unemployment market has peaked as 4.48 million persons have applied to the Batch C of the Federal Government N-Power National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).

The programme which opened for registration 16 days ago is expected to employ 400,000 persons.

Of the number, each member of the leadership of the National Assembly is allocated 500, each Senator in the country has 200 slots while each member in the House of Representatives is given 150 slots, remaining the rest to other Nigerians.

Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development tweeted Monday “My team and I continue to interface with stakeholders to ensure a successful transition for the @npower_ng.

“It has been 16 days since the portal opened and we have received 4.48 million applications to date.”

The enrolees of the scheme (Batch A) exited June 30 while the enrolees of Batch B will exit the programme on July 31.

Each enrolee is paid N30,000 monthly and is disengaged after employment by a ministry or company.
